Calling all up-and-coming artists…

If you are a high school student who is from Rural Alberta, we invite you to share your perspective through artwork for the chance to make a difference, be published, and win $1,000!

What does medicine look like in your community?

Is it heroic? Over-crowded? Absent? Unstable? Beautiful? Archaic? Understaffed? Underfunded?

What could medicine look like in your community?

The medical profession has come a long way in recognizing the healing benefits of art. We invite you to share your perspective on medicine in your rural community through art.

Send us your drawing or painting

Drawings or paintings will be accepted as long as they are submitted in the format described in our contest details. This includes using any medium (pencil, crayons, markers, digital illustrations, watercolour, acrylic, oil-based paint, pastels, charcoal, etc.) so long as it’s on paper, canvas, or 2D artboard.

We welcome you to be creative in how you share your perspective about medicine and health care.

The art in medicine community is growing

Today we see comic books about medicine, art & science meetings between researchers, university programs that celebrate art and medicine, and magazines that publish all kinds of medically-themed writings. Check out these other great art & medicine initiatives below:

“When artists give form to revelation, their art can advance, deepen and potentially transform the consciousness of their community.”

“The medical profession has come a long way in recognizing the healing benefits of art. My hope is that someday the arts will be considered as significant in everyone’s lives as breathing fresh air, eating clean foods, and performing physical exercise.”
